SOUTH AUSTRALIAN COUNTRY MUSIC FESITIVAL AND COUNTRY FAIR (Riverland)
2-12 June
Kick up your heels and shake off the winter blues at South Australia’s biggest country music festival. With almost 100 shows happening over 10 days in multiple venues, this festival is bursting at the seams with everything from honky tonk and hillbilly to bluegrass and traditional country. With alumni including Beccy Cole and Casey Chambers, this is also the place to go talent spotting for the next big country music star. Yee Ha!

DUYFKEN FAMILY DAY (Fleurieu Peninsula)
3 June
The replica 1700s Dutch ship Duyfken is making its way around Australia’s coast, and when it anchors in the waters off Victor Harbor, the town is planning to celebrate. Bring the family and enjoy a day of festivities that will include clog dancing, kite displays, cheese rolling competitions, face painting and a bouncy castle for the kids, plus lots of great food and wine for the parents. Charter boats will be available to view the magnificent ship up close, and if the weather is kind you’ll even be able to climb aboard.

ADELAIDE CABARET FESTIVAL
9-24 June
What good is sitting alone in your room? It’s certainly not an option when some of the world’s best lounge, jazz and contemporary singers are in town to entertain you. So put on your glad rags, old chum, and join the cool cats heading down to the Adelaide Festival Centre for two weeks of glitz, glamour, song and satire. Be entertained with heart-wrenchingly beautiful melodies, comedy numbers that will have you in fits of laughter, and even the odd diversion into country and world music. Come, hear the music play!

RIVERLAND BALLOON FIESTA AND COUNTRY FAIR
10-12 June
Come to Renmark and watch as the colourful hot air balloons soar above the mighty Murray River, or take to the air yourself and discover the magic of hot air ballooning. For those who prefer to keep their feet firmly on the ground, there are plenty of carnival rides and amusements at the event’s country fair. Browse the craft stalls, sample the local fresh produce, watch cooking demonstrations, and taste some great wine. The Country Fair is on the beautiful lawned areas of Renmark's spectacular Murray Riverfront.

MCLAREN VALE SEA AND VINES FESTIVAL (Fleurieu Peninsula)
11-12 June
Want to enjoy a heavenly weekend of gourmet delights, live music and world-class wines in gorgeous Mediterranean-style surroundings? Just drive an hour out of Adelaide and enter McLaren Vale, the place where the vines and pastures meet the sea. Here, SA’s premier chefs and restaurants have joined forces with local wineries to create mouth-watering menus complimented by great wine and live entertainment at 26 venues throughout the region. With more than 30,000 visitors last year, the McLaren Vale Sea and Vines Festival has established itself as Australia’s largest food and wine festival.

QUORN CUP DAY (Flinders Ranges and Outback)
17 June
Become a part of an outback tradition and join the party at Quorn on 17 June. The whole of this Flinders Ranges’ township will be celebrating when it hosts the 125th Anniversary Quorn Cup Day. Food, wine and entertainment compliment the action on the track and everybody gets swept up in the Cup’s festive atmosphere. It’s also a great excuse to spend a weekend in the South Australian outback, so book a room, bring your caravan or pitch a tent and get set to enjoy.

Australia on the Map 1606 to 2006

This stunning exhibition marks 400 years of exploration from the first recorded sighting of the Australian continent by a European vessel. Historical treasures on display include 400-year-old charts showing European speculation about the existence of a ‘great southern land’ before it had been sighted, a plaque that John Franklin left to Matthew Flinders and even a lock of Colonel Light’s hair.

150 Years of Collecting: South Australian Museum 1856 – 2006

Gallipoli: The South Australian Story

Every Australian has heard of Gallipoli and the Anzacs, but South Australia’s own specific part in the story is less well known. This free exhibition marks the 90th anniversary of the Anzac campaign, focusing on the incredible contribution of both the South Australian soldiers on the frontline and those South Australians who worked for the war effort on the home front in 1915.

Margaret Preston: Art and Life
